A lot of newer mobile phones have something called T9 text input, which allows you to type in a word by just pressing in the number keys once, intead of having to press the same key two or three times to get the second or third letter listed on it. For example, you can key in "fed" by tapping 3-3-3 instead of 3/3/3-4/3-3. So it needs a dictionary to find a match. This is probably not such a great example, but it is surprising how many short words map to unambiguous key sequences.

Anyway, all the words you might expect are in there (even some place names), but also slang like "gonna" and "wanna." But not "poof !"
