manipulative? it is and it isn't.

the first 2 hours and 20 minutes are fantastic. Very suspenseful, chilling, and surprisingly funny. Shyamalan's a great director. The last ten minutes *are* more than a little manipulative, and the theme spirals into religio-synchronicity. But it didn't wholly ruin the movie for me. If I only think about the rest of the movie, it's one of the best I've seen this year.

Yes, there are some plot holes, but you now know too much about the movie, having read that review. Really the whole point is to get the family in a tight situation, barricaded in a home where there are creepy crawlies outside. There is constant debate even within the movie why the aliens act the way they do, the crop circles are just one aspect of their mystery, never really resolved.

The guy here complains about the aliens being anthropomorphic and not using technology. I decided that the aliens that were sent out to battle humans *were* the technology, they were cheap expendable bio-battle-bots or something.
