A Word to the Wise

The dear old Neon, Dion[ne], had to go into the shop on Thursday after mysteriously refusing to start on Wednesday night. The battery and starter were fine, and all the fluid levels were normal.

Well, except one. The gas ! Since I'm not using the car to commute any more, I didn't bother filling the tank after the last time I drove it, which was Sunday night. I figured that I'd fill it up the next time I drove. Now, if this were winter, I would have filled it up, because I've been told that it's not good for the engine if the gas is really cold the next time you try to start it (or something to that effect).

Anyway, the guy at the service station said that low fuel levels will put a strain on the fuel pump, which, these days, tends to be an all-in-one assembly that is expensive to replace. So it's a good idea to keep the tank relatively full if you aren't going to drive to the car for a little while...
