The main thrust of this weekend's activities was O's unpacking a lot of stuff from the move; in timing this was not unlike finally declaring WWII over after the Berlin Wall came down. We unearthed some interesting artifacts, saw parts of the carpet that we hadn't seen since we moved in, and threw out a bit of junk. And now that summer finally seems to be here in earnest, I rotated my wardrobe and engaged in some merciless culling in the process. The rule of thumb is that you should get rid of anything you haven't worn for one year, but I can't quite bring myself to do that all time; still, there's a respectable pile that's going to the donation bin now. And, one question that came to mind while sifting through the drawers was: “How can a man come to posess so many socks ?”
Cheerfully, our Doraemon bank finally regained its rightful propellor during the excavation process. It used to be that if you put money on, the propellor would spin and the little cat-type robot
would thank you in both Japanese and English. Unfortunately, something snapped a few years ago and the switch to do this stuck in the “on” position, but still it's good to see him whole again.
Know what's good ? A salad of watermelon, cherries, and strawberries, all washed down with a little 2000 Renwood Zinfandel. (Sierra Series, available at your favorite Trader Joe's.) I wonder what it would be like it I just dumped the wine into that and let it marinate for a while. Mmm, fruity...
