Apparently I am still alive

O and I are switching life insurance coverage, so our new insurer sent over a friendly representation to interview us, and take blood and urine samples. And I got to have an EKG taken because I am, as you know, olde.

I don't know what it is with me, but I'm really squeamish that the sight of my own blood. After the sample was taken I noticed the tube of it sitting in its little plastic carrier, and I started feeling faint. I tried looking away and attempt to direct all my attention on the fascinating fine print on the medical material release form I just signed, but it didn't work. I reclined on the couch and felt fine about thirty seconds later, but I just wish I didn't have such a reaction.

Once I got really light-headed after reading a sequence in book called Memories Of Amnesia where a brain surgeon directs an operation on his own brain with the help of assistants, local anesthesia, and well-placed mirrors.

I had the feeling I was alive; isn't it nice to have that thought confirmed by a large corporation and several medical devices ?
