Holly Jolly

This year, our place was Christmas Central because we did not feel like schlepping little Sophie around, especially on Christmas Eve, because she has an early bedtime. So we had people over on the Eve and the Day, and O prepared two different and delicious dinners for both days. You've got to get some use out of all those Christmas place settings !

My sister said that she was "taking it easy" this year for presents, but still managed to bring in a small mountain of them for the kids.

S0 now has a small Brio train empire, and even better, a little telescope that doubles as a Viewmaster™ projector ! It's pretty funny that we actually had to wake him up for Christmas Day -- I don't think he's quite got a feel for the schedule of things yet ! He got a Thomas the Tank engine toy that will fit in the Brio Set, and a pair ot Thomas rain boots. And some Bob the Builder Brio figures, too</a>. He also ended up with two Spongbob lollipops in his stocking (both O and I got them for him), but he doesn't like em. But they are so cuuute !

My big gift to O was a day of beauty at Elizabeth Grady, but she also liked the little tea set I got from at Formaggio kitchen. My loot highlights: a Eames pen from O, and the DVD set Treasures from the American Film Archive from Mom.

O and I have used the rest of the week to relax and do other things that are hard to kid with the kids around (like see Lord of the Rings). For example, we did some after Christmas shopping at the CambridgeSide Galleria, which was pleasantly deserted on Wednesday. There, I checked out Apple Store (nice, please can I have an iBook ?) and bought a new set of Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble IV speakers to replace my old broken B&W speakers (and only $99 !).

I hope you all had a good holiday and have enjoyed slacking off this week if your schedule allows !
