Well, I've been thinking a bit how the mediasphere tends to reward those who shoot from the hip – I can't stand to watch those opinion shows on TV – and of course the burning issue of today becomes tomorrow's fish and chip paper.

The public form of this tendency is prejudice. Now, the fact is, is that good snap judgements probably have survival value, but most of us aren't in the semi-darkness surrounded by enemies and predators anymore.

I am just as great as an offender as the next guy when it comes to the gears that immediately start grinding away when formulating an opinion – it's just with people as the subject of this, the potential harm is greater.

As far as what such judgements can reveal, at least you can get some schadenfreude out of that ;)
