some Ramones stuff you might appreciate
Devo deserves a book, like the Ramones deserve a good documentary, and finally there is one. "Ramones: End of the Century" is an intimate portrait made by their accountant. I've been a fan for years, saw them perform thrice, but didn't know most of the stuff in that movie like:

-- Joey had obsessive-compulsive disorder so serious it sometimes took him an hour to go up a staircase or cross a street;

-- Johnny was the leader of the band and ran it with an iron fist and Joey was a distant third in the command structure, after Dee Dee;

-- Johnny stole Joey's girlfriend around 1980 or so and they hated each other from that point on, barely speaking to each other, even in Joey's final days;

-- Dee Dee really turned tricks at 53rd and 3rd, trading sex for drugs;

-- Phil Spector held them hostage in his house, at gunpoint;

-- Clem Burke played for them for about a week ("the worst week of my life" he said) and was kicked out because he couldn't keep up;

-- Arturo Vega (who designed all their logos) supported them for a while, letting them sleep on the floor of his studio;

-- in their early days they used to argue with each other on stage about what song to play next (they had footage of them doing just this!!!)

anyway. just thought you'd like to know. I'll check out the DEVO book. They and the Ramones were my favorite favorites when I was a kid in the seventies.
