Mmm, what's for lunch ?

Google lunch menus [via ovidiu_feed].

I've never worked at any companies with an in-house chef, although I did know people who worked at Thinking Machines, Inc., in Cambridge, and their chef was from a famous local restaurant.

Oracle had a pretty great cafeteria when I worked there. You had your choice of some fancy-pants entree (oftentimes yummy stuff like Prime Rib or Roast Chicken), or the grill (hamburgers & chicken), or the salad bar, or the sandwich bar (i used this one the most - very good quality cold cuts and bread). And of course it was all subsidized by The Corporation so you could have your prime rib au jus and mashed potatoes and a salad for $5.

The only drawback was that they only took cash, and there was no ATM machine anywhere near the offices. You'd have to drive to Foster City. Jeeeeez.

Now at SCO, they had the right idea. You just presented your employee ID card to the cashier and the cost of your lunch was automatically deducted out of your paycheck. Of course the food wasn't anywhere near as good as Oracle.
