Sin ! Science !

This landed in my del.icio.us inbox thanks to jgd3. And I just love the look on the astronaut's face.

Poul Anderson and Philip Jose Farmer are legit SF authors, right ?

Farmer is legit and prolific, and probably most famous for writing a novel under the name Kilgore Trout, with Vonegut's permission, I think it's called Venus on the Half-Shell. Vonegut was peeved because Farmer was a bread-n-butter straight-to-paperback sci-fi writer, very much like (the fictional) Trout; but the book he wrote under Trout's name is supposedly a Vonegut knock-off. (I haven't read it, only heard about it.)

Anderson's in the same league; his is about the same reputation that L. Ron Hubbard would have if Hubbard hadn't started that religion.

Farmer once wrote a pornographic SF novel (under his own name). I have a friend who swears by his Riverworld series, but I have not read his work.

Oh, I hadn't noticed you were on del.icio.us. Just subscribed to you. (I'm 'snej'.)

That cover reminds me that, in the days of the original Star Trek series, the network censors wouldn't allow any part of the underside of a woman's breast to be shown. This really irked Star Trek's costume designer, who wondered out loud whether it was because they believed moss grew there.
