I Never Knew That

A SanDisk 128 Mb SmartMedia card can survive being put through the laundry, and the contacts turn out really shiny.

Then we can put a whole PC in the extractor down at the laundromat ! But wear goggles, just in case.

Do you think it'd work right away or after it dried? Or are teh cases water-tight? If not watertight, I wonder if (or how long would it take for) corrosion would (to) set in and render it inoperable.

I think it's sealed, although the seal might not be perfect by now. It did get a good drying ! It did work, although there wasn't much data on it anyway (I'd already copied the pictures off it). I could use a copy/compare tool (maybe rsync ?) to see if it's really good.

I am pretty sure that flash memory is topped with a plastic or silicon layer for the "bits." But yeah, if the actual leads to the flash memory are not gold, then I might see a problem down the line.
