Where My Eyes Went

So, I just had my eyes examined, which involved having them dilated — this is something that needs to be done once you're over forty, just to make sure nothing odd is happening in the retina. (All quiet on that front !) Anyway, things are looking kind of fuzzy now, plus I must give the impression of a Keane painting.

And note to self: Don't try to eat a burrito, especially a good, wet one, while wearing a white shirt.

pupils are dilated and reactive
Been there recently mice-elf. The experience messed with my head. It is good to know that my eye's lenses are getting "leathery" and "less flexible". Aging rules.

Darling, my eyes dilate involuntarily in your presence
Weird thing was, it appears my old prescription was ever-so-slightly too strong for my right eye, so it's being taken down a notch. Left eye is still the same, so that means I've had basically the same prescription for ten years. Woo !

On the way back, driving in the dark, the fuzziness was going away but anything that was lit up appeared to "bleed" outside its edges. Groovy light show man.

That reminds me
of the first They Might Be Giants song I ever heard.

Where your eyes don't go

Where your eyes don't go a filthy scarecrow waves its broomstick arms
And does a parody of each unconscious thing you do
When you turn around to look it's gone behind you
On its face it's wearing your confused expression
Where your eyes don't go

Where your eyes don't go a part of you is hovering
It's a nightmare that you'll never be discovering
You're free to come and go or talk like Kurtis Blow
But there's a pair of eyes in back of your head

Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders
What the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of
Should you worry when the skullhead is in front of you
Or is it worse because it's always waiting where your eyes don't go?

Where your eyes don't go a part of you is hovering
It's a nightmare that you'll never be discovering
You're free to come and go or talk like Kurtis Blow
But there's a pair of eyes in back of your head

Where your eyes don't go a filthy scarecrow waves its broomstick arms
And does a parody of each unconscious thing you do
When you turn around to look it's gone behind you
On its face it's wearing your confused expression
Where your eyes don't go

Re: That reminds me
That's exactly what I had in mind, and it's one of my favorite TMBG songs !
