Go Ed Markey !

More Homeland Insecurity fallout from the case of Nathaniel Heatwole, who carried box cutters onto two planes, undetected. Says Markey:
The Bush administration can't, on the one hand, say that this young man committed a very serious crime and then at the same time say that they didn't respond to the e-mail at the Department of Homeland Security because it wasn't an imminent threat. They can't have it both ways. Either the young man did something that was very serious, or he didn't.

I really enjoy roads and dams (and the fact that we still have lots of bald eagles), but sometimes goverments really suck ass.

Re: spin city
Were things always this bad ? Strikingly flawed people can be good politicians, and even the noblest efforts of goverments are greased with ambition and profit-taking, but this whole Homeland Security thing isn't even a tradeoff between real security and our personal liberties – it just seems like an demagogic oppurtunity for right-wing.

Somebody convice me otherwise. please.
